So what in the world is wrong with successful men and women who can't control themselves? I mean, really, they pay money to use a website to find an exciting fling because the good life that they have just isn't enough for them. And they come from all walks of life. With the recent revelation that thirty-seven million subscribers have had their accounts hacked, we are learning that high level government employees, including Justice Department attorneys, Homeland Security personnel, employees of the Defense Department possibly including some military types and even a high ranking White House information technology manager are subscribers. And it came out several days ago that Washington, D.C. has the highest number of subcribers of any metropolitan area, some even using government email addresses. You gotta' know they're sweating it right now. Maybe all of the failures of our government in recent years is partly because many are more interested in pursuing an than in doing their jobs.
Sadly, this kind of behavior is just another symptom of the moral void that has become America today. Cheating of all types is generally accepted silently and, of course, the more often that people make poor moral decisions which are accepted with silence, the more they become desensitized to the destruction of human character. I like to use the example of a young hit man, hired to commit murder for money. On the first occasion of doing his illicit job, he probably felt great remorse, but after ten jobs it was like stepping on a bug. And evil works that way, when we let it creep in to stay, it consumes us.
So now we're going to have a lot of heartbreak within families and the only ones who will be happy about it are the divorce attorneys. I suspect we should be looking for a huge jump in divorce cases in the civil courts of America this fall and beyond. And then there's the Ashley Madison organization itself, flippantly proposing affairs to end a life of boredom for morally weak people while guaranteeing anonymity, the very drawing card that they used to gain members which has crumbled at the hands of a hacker. They couldn't keep it secret and now are likely to find their business in a shambles very fast. Good for them; the result is well deserved.
But here's the last thing about this whole absurd situation. If you are a married man or woman in a marriage that isn't doing well, or if you are just tempted to look for someone different and more exciting, think about what it will do to both you and that formerly special someone and get some help and try to make it work. While the grass often looks greener on the other side, it usually isn't. Rebuild you relationship by working on it together if you can; it just takes a little openness and honesty. Anything worth having takes work.
Have a great day and God bless you all.
