Now I know the setting was drawn from my experience, for I was standing along the peaceful shore of the Currituck Sound directly across from the Outer Banks. It was in the afternoon, a warm and very pleasant day with a distinct haze. The breeze was slight off the water and the sound was almost still, yet I could sense that clouds would be rolling in and with them likely some showers and maybe more. As I continued to watch nature unfold, far off in the distance I saw a waterspout, then another and another. They were far off in the distance and they soon dissipated, but then the waterspouts began again. Within a short period of time, there were five heading in my direction and were at most a mile away, spaced no more than several hundred yards apart each, spread out so that unless something changed there would be no way to escape. I prayed for them to dissipate but they continued my way, so I decided to move away from the water and find shelter. While I knew they weren't massive like the ones in the Midwest, I also knew they could definitely throw me around like a rag doll if hit directly. They were now easily within a half mile of shore.
I found a ditch nearby that would at least afford me to get below the storm, but I was just drawn to the amazing sight before me, so I watched and waited until I knew I had to lie flat in in the ditch, improving my chances of not being injured. It was at that moment before taking action when the most amazing thing took place. Just before landfall, the waterborne twisters came together as one and once across the shoreline, they went through a major instant transformation. The twisters became a majestic white stallion, transparent but seeming oh, so real and on his back as rider was an angel, all in bright white like the steed, with wings looking like the horse could soon fly like an eagle. Together they were as bright as the sun at high noon and as horse and rider walked toward me, I suddenly awoke and sat up in bed fast. I thought about waking my wife, but since I always get up first to make the coffee, I let her sleep and await her alarm, ready to pour her a cup. While I waited for my first cup of coffee and the sound of her alarm, I was both overjoyed and startled by what had jolted me awake and I thought as I sipped my first cup of coffee about what that dream could mean.
In addition to understanding the location for the dream, the white horse was also an easy matter, since we have a beautiful gray thoroughbred who could have been used for the scene. But why was the mounted angel and the horse created out of a storm and then sent to me? Well, when Charyl awoke and joined me for coffee, she thought it could have been because of a difficult situation she is facing and perhaps the twisters represented the storm in her life with the transition a sign that all would be okay. Since I'm a worrier when it come to any issue she faces, that could be it. Or it could just be the angel telling me that the drop by was just because they were aware that the Holy Spirit was active in me with my open heart and they wanted to add encouragement. Or perhaps it could be a notice that the Lord would be calling me home soon. Now that's not one I really want to think about right now since I have things still to do in this world, but none of us know when that will be. Besides, when that day does come, if our hearts are tuned to our Lord it should be a momentous and joyous time, not one to be faced with dread. Still, I hope to have more time on earth as long as I can fend for myself and live free. Regardless, that was a dream that I will never forget and I really wish a master dream reader could interpret it fully for me. So, Lord, if you can spare Daniel from his heavenly duties for a short period, could you send him to me to interpret my dream? Just a possibility, my friends, just a possibility and I feel blessed to have experienced it, because they weren't demons coming after me in this dream. It was truly divine and special.
