We received quick bucket loads of rain just after dark. Cold front coming to Florida. The horses are glad the dust is settled but tomorrow night we will have our first freeze of the year. Time to get their blankets out tomorrow. I get spoiled with the warm weather in Florida, but at least the cold when it comes only lasts a day or two at a time.
They have been coming up to the fence near my chicken coops looking for a way in. It is reinforced but the chickens are fearful. Perfect solution, one shotgun blast into the ground near the fence and they are gone, for now. Next time I will send the big guy, Goliath, out. Nobody messes with him. His picture is on one of my pages. Check him out.
Another beautiful morning albeit a little bit cooler. Went down to low 40s last night, cold front on way. Horses were frisky at feeding time. Another interesting feature: one of my barn cats caught a baby turkey and was on the way back to the barn when Old Tom took off after him. He dropped the little turkey and "Got out of Dodge". Nature rules again and it shows us the majesty of God, for He created it all for us to enjoy.
...how the animals can figure out what the weather is going to be like much better than we humans? They are a lot smarter than we give them credit for. Even the wild critters like coyotes, deer, and bear disappear when they sense a storm is brewing. God works wonders.
We had over seven inches of rain in the last few days and it is now looking green again. It was our first rain since the heavy downpours from the tropical storm last summer. I do wonder where winter is, however, it has really been warm. That should change soon.
This is my first entry on this site. Today is a beautiful, if unseasonably warm morning in the real Florida, rural North Florida. The horses, dogs, cats and even the birds are enjoying the beautiful sunny day. God has given us many blessings.
I hope you will find my ramblings enjoyable and worthwhile. I will talk a lot about God and the surroundings he gave us and will also delve a little bit into politics and my opinion of what I think about it. I welcome anyone to enter into discussion with me, I just ask that at all times we be civil and respect each other.
Again, welcome to North Florida Writer.
Hi, I'm James, a writer who studies nature, animals and all things created by God. I also write from time to time about what I think God expects of us. I would love to hear your thoughts on these subjects. I hope you enjoy my comments.
