President Donald Trump's So-Called Muslim Ban: The Real Story

1/30/2017

Yesterday the main stream media was gnashing their teeth, whining and moaning as they put out their version of President Donald Trump's so-called temporary ban on the entry of Muslim immigrants and all refugees seeking entry into the United States.  They were screaming about how unjust it was, how it violated the Constitution and how it had created chaos in airports across the land.  But before we look further at the scene that unfolded yesterday and continued into today, a few facts about the issue are in order.

Over 325,00 people from other lands flew into the United States this weekend and of that number only 109 were singled our for denial of entry.  And concerning the ban on Muslims from around the world, only 13% are covered by the temporary ban, coming from seven nations including Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Yemen and Libya, the principal sources of active terror operations today.  It should also be noted that in 2011, President Barack Obama placed a six month ban on entry of certain Iraqi citizens into this country, using the same basis of national security concerns as Trump has used.  The President of the United States has broad executive power under the Constitution regarding national security issues and his actions were first described as needed in the report of the 9/11 Commission approximately sixteen years ago.

Part of the problem was that which you find when any new policy is put into action; questions come up among those tasked with enforcement and must be resolved before actions is taken and this slows down the process.  And then, of course, there was the usual immediate response of protestor groups, instantaneously showing up to block travelers and traffic into and out of airports as if they just appeared by a miracle.  No, they are just part of the organized anarchy groups that are routinely dispatched by those desiring to harm America with organized chaos.

But we can't forget the acting skills of Senator Charles Schumer and his manufactured tears which, as President Trump correctly said, don't match the style of the New York Senator who never can avoid the opportunity for camera time. And even today, Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia addressed and organized a protest inside of Dulles Airport, sounding like a mad man as hurrying travelers asked the Senator and his entourage to quit blocking traffic.  Frankly, that may not even be legal in proximity to security lines which is where it took place. Kaine, a first term Senator who is up for reelection, obviously hopes to inspire the protestors to work on his campaign which could very well be uphill after his miserable vice presidential campaign performance.

The bottom line:  What Trump was doing is what a President is supposed to do - insure the security of his nation and her citizens.  America has no obligation to allow any non-citizens into the country if safety is a question.  Security and national defense are the President's first and foremost duties under the Constitution.   And I ask the reader, whether you agree with the process or not, who are you going to blame if you or a loved one is harmed by an illegal roaming around in America like we've already witnessed or which is daily in other nations like Germany.  Admit it - you are going to blame the President of the United States.

How about we just let him do the job which he was elected to do, for whether you like to admit it or not, he is the President of the United States.  Let's use a little common sense for a change.

SUNDAY MORNING COMING DOWN: THE GIFT OF LIFE

Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid his hands on them and went away.
                   - Matthew 19:13-15
(ESV)

Nothing is more important to Jesus than the little children. They are born helpless and need tender loving care to help them grow and mature physically and spiritually and His ultimate wish is that they become true followers of God, living in His image as they were created and following His plans for their life.  And as I think about the precious nature of life and children, I was truly touched by the Right to Life March in Washington, D.C. this past Friday.  Thousands of Christians and others who believe in the sanctity of life celebrated its miracle while standing for what they believe in, that children have a right to be born once they are conceived.   And while there are many who likely were attending as well who might accept some modifications to that absolute position, allowing for exceptions under extreme circumstances, all fully agree that the idea of third trimester and partial birth abortion is a complete travesty, some of us say murder, since the life taken is likely to be viable and the developing child feels pain and suffers horribly.

Now I'm not here to judge those who don't agree with this for only God can do that and all of us, believers or not, will have our day in "court" with Him after this life is done.  But I am here to celebrate the love and grace shown in that march yesterday where smiling faces, calm voices and signs of courage and truth, not hate, were on visible display.  And it was also gratifying to see as a speaker the Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence, truly a believer in life, stand strongly for this cause as the highest ranking political leader of this land to ever attend.  These people aren't trying to destroy anything or anyone, but they are saying what they believe and how they will live as their faith dictates and no one on this earth has the right to deny that.  It is an inalienable right that they hold.

And as Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them."

Well, nothing could be more in opposition to that than a procedure which snuffs out that life before the poor child even has the opportunity to experience living.  I pray that we all might think about that and evaluate much better alternatives in the future.  Perhaps understanding the consequences of irresponsible living and how to change that would be a good starting point. And the best way to do that is to open your heart to God and let Him enter your heart and soul and guide decision-making and action.

ALL LIVES MATTER, INCLUDING THE UNBORN! God bless you all and have a blessed day.

A New Approach at the CIA:  Director Mike Pompeo

One of the agencies in our national government which has a major task ahead to repair its effectiveness, image and employee morale is the Central Intelligence Agency, which operates a massive headquarters outside Washington in Langley, Virginia with untold numbers of agents and informants the world over.  With a primary role of gathering real intelligence and providing it to those who must make life and death decisions impacting our government and its functioning as well as the lives of Americans the world over, the mission is critical.  And while the agency has always had significant political influences impacting it, it must be focused better on its primary mission.  New Director Mike Pompeo is a good choice for that difficult task.

Former Congressman Pompeo of Kansas was selected by the President and finally received consent from the Senate by a vote of 66-32.  He was sworn into his new job on Monday night and is now in the process of reviewing his charges and determining exactly what must be done to get the agency on track.

Pompeo's record would indicate a good selection since he is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point (firs in his class), served on active duty as a commissioned officer, graduated from Harvard Law and served on the Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives which gave him insight into the intelligence issues impacting our nation. He is analytical, smart and cool headed as seen during his confirmation hearings for his current position.

When asked by the newly elected Senator from California, Kamala Harris, if he would agree with his predecessor, William Brennan, that climate change was the biggest problem facing the CIA, he responded that it was his job to analyze intelligence data and insure that real information is sent to those who need it for decision-making.  He said he wold leave the issue of climate change to those with the expertise to deal with it, but if he was asked to evaluate the impact of a climate change matter from information provided he would evaluate it.  It was an appropriate answer to a question that should never have been asked, a question which would have been better suited to a nominee for the Environmental Protection Agency.

And that, in a nutshell, shows why Mike Pompeo will be an excellent Director of the CIA.  He will manage the gathering and processing of real intelligence, not for an agenda or to support an ideology, but to keep America safe. As the last member of the intelligence triumvirate to be approved, following Jim Mattis for Defense and John Kelly for Homeland Security, he will work closely with those two superb professionals to keep America free.

Congratulations, Director Pompeo.

Homeland Security: Uh Oh, Better Get GLYNCO!

Not far to the north in Coastal Georgia is found the Glynco Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, a first class educational facility created to train and update professional law enforcement officers at all levels in the latest leadership, technical and general skills needed to be at the top of their game.  It's a modern and impressive facility and Glynn County, Georgia was pleased and fortunate to gain it as an additional center for employment in their community.

But now, of all things, the Center is finding itself at the heart of a story which has broken related to the voting issue.  The problem came up when the Georgia Secretary of State, Brian Kemp, was notified by state election officials that computer technical specialists had found Georgia's election data system was hacked ten times from an IP address located at Glynco prior to November 15th.  It was reported to the Department of Homeland Security, the parent organization for Glynco, which responded with multiple communications, each different from the other, first saying that a computer program went haywire before eventually admitting what Georgia already knew, the source was Glynco.  DHS indicated it was from a computer in a supporting contractor organization but would not identify the company or employee involved.

After the election, when the challenges were completed, Kemp wrote to President-elect Trump, asking for his help after inauguration in finding the truth.  So, isn't it interesting that on January 17th the Inspector General of Homeland Security, John Roth, wrote to Kemp explaining that he had launched an investigation into the hack and the details.  For DHS to enter a state computer system requires agreement from the state, something which Georgia has never granted.

In reality, Georgia's Kemp is one of the leaders of state election systems challenging Secretary Jeh Johnson's declaration that state election systems were critical national infrastructure which would allow direct federal involvement.  The unilateral action was taken on January 6th without support from any of the fifty state election leaders who understand that election procedures are a state responsibility.  Suffice it to say that this ruling won't stand for long with retired General John Kelly now the new Director of Homeland Security.  If the IG finds violations known or supported without appropriate action by DHS officials, charges could be filed.  Stay tuned for more.

"To thine own self be true...".  A snippet of Polonius' final advice to his son, Laertes, who was in the process of leaving for Paris to get away from his father's lengthy discourses.
                  - From Shakespeare's Hamlet

Those who read my blogs routinely might be wondering why I picked this quote and what I am trying to accomplish today, so let me just say that it is an attempt to explain why I write as I do and offer my opinions, which are drawn from my belief system.  And in particular this commentary is in response to a reader's suggestion that I was being negative and should focus on positive things.  The reader is an acquaintance I value as a smart and thoughtful person, yet someone who disagrees with me on much in politics but with whom I have worked successfully in the past on issues where we do share a common view.  And I am writing this on my blog rather than in person since I think it might explain to others who have questioned my thoughts in different specific cases but for whom the same response is, I think, appropriate.

For those who read the blog it was about the Women's March in Washington last Saturday.  I specifically addressed the Washington March only since it is the one that I witnessed through video and contact from people who I know and trust and had first hand experience.  I certainly did not, and don't, object to peaceful protest as it is a freedom we should all have, but I did criticize it because of some of the happenings that took place.  This was my opinion and my opinion only and I received plenty of positive feedback as well.  I do, however, reserve my right to tell the truth based upon what my eyes and ears tell me and for that reason I was appalled by the way things were conducted.  In this regard, I am principally placing the blame on planners and organizers for letting a program get out of hand but, again, it's what I believe and you are entitled to your own view.

Being a man of faith, I will start with the two women in the march laughing and joking with their sign which read: "If Mary had had an abortion we wouldn't be in this mess".  I quoted it just exactly as it appeared on the sign and it is readily available on Facebook.  It played a particular part in my deciding to write this piece today since it was not included in the original post. And it exemplifies how so many who are constantly screaming that they are offended are often much more offensive in their own behavior.

When an organized protest march supports statements of what I consider filth they lose much potential for support and social media has shown plenty of examples other than the one cited above to back my claim and they were cited previously as well as witnessed in person by persons I know to be truthful and totally honest, plus they are also clearly available on Facebook and utube.  Particular examples mentioned were Ashley Judd and Madonna, two women who in my eyes disgraced themselves.  Madonna could be in potential trouble with the law over her comments about bombing the White House. Should that be determined to be a threat against the President, it would be a felony.  She also threw that wonderful "F"bomb around as did Judd, who also stated for the world to hear that the President had "dreams" about incest with his oldest daughter.  And then there were the women who chose to dress in attire which highlight intimate women's body parts, some of whom were even bringing young children with them carrying sings (again some with that famous "F"bomb included).  I can just visualize in my own mind what life must be like in that household; no, on second thought I'd rather not.

So, I'll just leave it at that. As mentioned above, all of the above  were both seen and heard and are available at many social media sights. Of course, the mainstream media avoided them, focusing on what they wanted to show to push their agenda which just took a beating at the polls, both at the national level and in states across the country.  My purpose was not to be negative, in fact, I look at it in an entirely different way.  The only way we can be positive is to face the truth and act accordingly unless you find it tasteful and appropriate to push the envelope of absurd behavior or merely condone it by silence.  That's not something that I am willing to do but you may do as you wish.

In closing, let me say I hold no hate and won't try to shut down opposition voices, but I will voice the truth about what I see as part of my writing on my own blog and in some of my published works.  I hate no one and wish no one harm, but if you support such behavior, I pray for the Holy Spirit to enter your heart and open it if only to understand from where I come.  America is much better than this and most of us know it.  God bless you all.

So They Trashed the Place, but Did They Accomplish Their Objective?

It's amazing the heights of stupidity and extremes to which people will go to try and make a point which they mistakenly think will gain them additional support for their cause when, in fact, it usually goes the other way.  This weekend's Women's March on Washington was a prime example, with the aging Madonna talking of bombing the White House and Ashley Judd substituting "F"bombs and rambling mad statements for logical ones while many thought dressing like an intimate female body part would really be a hit.  And then, at the completion of the march, these wonderful citizens claiming to speak for all women left a trash heap for others to deal with when they left.  The picture of the trash shown here was, in this writer's opinion, more tasteful than displaying a picture of costumes worn.  Maybe we could call it "Shock" without the "Awe".

The march was supposed to be representative of their disdain for our new President in his first full day of  office yet it sounded more like just another anti-American group of ranters not really even knowing what the real theme of the gathering was.  But, in all fairness, they at least need to be congratulated for not smashing windows, police cars and setting fires in the streets.  Of course, maybe by the time they gathered they had learned that the miscreants in town the day before for the inauguration who committed felony actions were being charged as such and could face some serious fines and jail time.

Look, I understand the right to protest and support protest for what you believe in, but if you want others to consider objectively what you have to say, you have to act responsibly.  And when you go out of the way to offend others, a group that actually outnumbers you, the likelihood of you making headway for your cause self-destructs because no one except for your own true believers will consider you seriously.  You might feel like you "told us" but, guess what?  You really just showed us just how shallow, ridiculous and disgusting you are willing to act and the lasting impact will be negative to your cause.  Most Americans are sick of this stuff, desirous of seeing society returned to a day of respect, not a display of bad language and graphic displays of genitalia.  The message gets lost through what so many consider vile behavior and Americans likely just laugh or feel sorry for you.  Maybe next time Johns Hopkins could send over a truck load of psychiatrists to evaluate the likes of Ashley Judd, Madonna and their good friend Michael Moore.  Now that would really be a public service.

SUNDAY MORNING COMING DOWN: PRAY FOR OUR NEW PRESIDENT

1/21/2017

Picture
On this Sunday Morning Coming Down our new President, Donald Trump enters his second full day as our Chief Executive and Commander-in-Chief.  There is no doubt that now that all of the campaigning is over and he looks carefully at his own personal road ahead, he feels the weight of the world on his shoulders.  The President  is a man who didn't need the job, has all of the riches and material things that surpass what most of us could ask for in our wildest dreams, is blessed with a beautiful family and adult children well prepared to take on his business enterprises and has abounding energy and self-confidence.  But why would a man of seventy want to take on the duties of being the Leader of the Free World when he could live the life of leisure and relax for the rest of his life?  I truly believe he did so because he thinks America needs him and his experience to recover from past mistakes.  But love him, hate him or be indifferent to him, he is our President and he needs the help of Almighty God and His grace to succeed in his task.  And so I ask you to join with me in this prayer for President Trump. It will be presented as I see things and you might disagree, of course, with some of what I say.  Regardless, pray for him and his success in safety as he navigates a troubled world with many potential pitfalls along the way.

Dear Lord,  Thank you for the blessings that you continually bestow upon us.  We know that we are undeserving as sinners, but we are truly thankful that through your love and grace we can be forgiven and granted eternal life with you.

Today we ask that you guide and direct the work of our new President, Donald Trump, as he takes on the daunting task of leading the United States of America.  He is a man like us, a sinner and a mere mortal human, yet he has been given the responsibility to govern us wisely and fairly in a manner that provides the utmost in freedom and opportunity to each of us according to our skills and abilities. You, as our Creator, endow those who govern with the power to do what is necessary to protect and defend our country and help it to prosper.  But that power comes with the requirement that they rule in accordance with your guidance and direction and our Founders wisely recognized our requirement to put you at the center of things in our life.

We face trying times and strife, both internal and external and know that only with your love and grace can we be successful and for no one is that more important than our President, who carries much of the future for our nation and her people on his shoulders. Each decision that he makes carries great impact.  Guide him in listening to the Holy Spirit within him, and in so doing, open his heart to you, Lord, the one God and the only true God, the same God that your chosen people worship, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  And always guide our leader's relationship with the Jewish state and her people, for we know that the Golden City of God is Jerusalem and that she must never be allowed to fall.

Keep him safe and keep your arms of protection over his family as well and never let us forget your importance to us and to strive to live for you.  Bless us and keep us and bless the United States of America.  May our new President rise to all occasions that he might face with you at his side.  We ask in Jesus' name, Amen.

The Transformation That Wasn't

1/21/2017

PictureThe last goodbye.
"We are only five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America"
                 - Barack Obama, November 2008

Just over eight years ago, Barack Obama swept into the Presidency based upon his "Hope and Change" campaign that so many Americans wanted to believe.  The press fawned over him, never did the critical analysis that is part of their job and he defeated the Republican candidate, John McCain, who refused to use the material available to truly fight for the position.

What material, you ask?  Well, it was easy to find for anyone who wanted to.  It included his heavy youth indoctrination into the Muslim faith while living in Indonesia; his mentoring as a teen in Hawaii by Frank Marshall Davis, a registered member of the Communist Party USA; his worship for twenty years in a church which when mentioning God chose other words than bless America in discussing God and had his first campaign fundraiser hosted by Bill Ayers and his wife, two members of the Weather Underground terrorist organization that bombed a number of government buildings in the 1960s.  The husband and wife team are to this day unrepentant for what they did and state that they should have done more.

While none of those things totally defined Obama, they did give a clear indication of what he believed since generally people like to surround themselves with people of like thought.  But, of course, the press remained silent, touting the style of his soaring rhetoric, not its content and it was only after he was elected did his actions define the true philosophy and ideology of the man.

As we went into the second term of his presidency his actions became even more strident, completely ignoring Congress and opting to use executive orders and bureaucratic regulation to do what he couldn't get done through Congress in accordance with the Constitution.  And what he couldn't get done by these means he just figured his replacement, assumed to be Hillary Clinton, would finalize.  After all, Hillary was actually more strident and a bigger true believer than Obama and she would push things through with an iron hammer, no matter what America thought.  And she knew that Congress, on its on, would sit silent as they had for Obama, allowing the Left to once and for all finish the transformation, finishing the goals of the Progressive Movement initially drawn up over one hundred years ago and turning the nation on its head.

But something happened on the way to the Coronation of Hillary.  A savvy and successful businessman, Donald Trump, decided to enter the Republican Primary fray and with high energy and his own funds made mincemeat of the field, defying all odds and capturing the nomination.  The press wasn't worried; they knew with their total tilt left they could find or manufacture something with the help of their masters, the Democrats, to take him down.  But every grenade they lobbed got thrown back in their face because Trump refused to play their game, and took it right to the people.

Even a mere few days before the election, Trump was drawing massive crowds wherever he went, Hillary was largely staying out of sight and the press was continuing to manufacture fake polls that predicted a Hilary landslide that never materialized.

Trump won, fought off all kinds of ridiculous challenges thrown his way immediately thereafter and yesterday he became the Forty-fifth President of the United States. And with it, former President Obama and the Democrats are facing a reality that is most fitting.  If you try to rule, not govern, by dictating change without following the Constitution, most of what you do will be nullified.  And that is just what America under Trump is beginning to do.  I wouldn't be surprised if the President is even now, on his first Saturday morning as President, working to undo all of those things not properly done.  He sure isn't on the golf course.

Trump promises to represent the forgotten Americans, the millions who pay their taxes, work hard and yet never receive the attention they deserve.  He actually promises to represent all of us, yet he will focus directly on the most dire needs first.  So rather than be rioting and burning cities, it's time to be thankful that some common sense, patriotism, love of God and American sovereignty are now coming back in vogue.  It's way past time and we need to wish him well. But even as he said himself in his speech yesterday, Americans need to pay attention and hold his feet to the fire.  Trump, after all, works best under pressure and that's why he'll succeed.

Twenty four hours ago America transitioned from a national transformation to a national rebirth and revival.  Oh, what a difference a day makes. God bless America and may she ever be free.

Wake Up, America. It's January 20th, TRUMP DAY!

PicturePresident & Mrs. Trump at Lincoln Memorial
At 12:01 p.m. today on the west steps of the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as the Forty-fifth President of the United States by Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court John Roberts.  Donald Trump will bring to office one of the most amazing campaign success stories ever witnessed by this country.  Never expected to gain traction, he won the Republican nomination going away and defeated Hillary Clinton despite the efforts of a press corps trying to destroy him.  He fooled all the odds makers by winning significant victories in solid blue states to seal the victory in November.

Now the hard part begins: governing. President Trump is bringing with him a strong line up of proven leaders and clear headed thinkers with extensive work experience and strong track records.  These are no lofty-headed academicians from the Ivy Tower community. No, Sir, they are brilliant and practical men and women accepting the challenge of hard work to make America great again for everyone, not just the chosen few.

We all need to pray that the Holy Spirit infects Donald Trump as he begins a tough journey to bring America back from the brink of financial and economic insolvency.  And we also need to pray that all Americans, be they pro or con when it comes to their personal views of the new President, will put aside the hateful rhetoric and disdain and put America first.  After all, someone has to win and someone has to lose every four years in the Presidential election, but it's up to all of us to love our country and do what we can to make her run smoothly.  Throwing vile words and objects in violence will never solve our problems; only rolling up our sleeves and facing our problems openly and honestly will. Substitute truth and love for falsehoods and hate will create a winner every time.

Congratulations to our new President and the First Lady and may God bless them as we begin a new chapter in American history. And God bless America, our home, sweet home.

Bikers, Thugs and the Inauguration: Trump WILL Be Sworn In!

1/18/2017

Picture
There's been a lot of talk of late about the huge protest that will be coming to Washington to try and disrupt the inauguration of Donald Trump as the Forty-fifth President of the United States.  Unlike previous inaugural sore losers, this group seems "hellbent", at least from their vile rhetoric,  on causing disruption, possibly even violence and many are concerned for the safety of the approximately one million people likely to attend the swearing in.  Yet if past experience holds true, the threat is likely much more hype than reality, akin to what was supposed to happen in Cleveland at last summer's Republican National Convention.

Oh, the usual array of unwashed and ill-mannered protesters will be there, spewing the "F" bomb and other vile words, attempting to create a disturbance. And there could be some violent types, like Black Lives Matter paid operatives trying to start fights by pushing people or even taking a potshot at a woman as they often do.  But the bottom line when all is said and done is that the Bikers for Trump will be there in force, already committing to form a wall of "red meat" that won't be penetrable.  And by that term they mean their own bodies, available to help the police.  These are some of the same bikers who were in Cleveland and quelled all of the trouble before it even started.  For you see, the "Pajama Boys" who come to Washington pasty white from living in their mother's basement really don't want to tangle with real and patriotic Americans who are tired of the nonsense and want to celebrate the victory of Donald Trump.

Then there's Code Pink, another "fruit loop" group which has no shame. And after watching their performance in Senate confirmation hearings, I'm sure they'll be there trying to cast a spell or something on the new President, possibly wearing those white sheets again as they did at the Jeff Sessions confirmation. Actually, though, I think it's helpful to the conservative cause that they act so foolishly, for the more they are seen by the public the less positive response that Americans have for them and the things they represent.

The Left just doesn't get it that finally the public has figured the whole thing out.   Americans are sick of violence, foul language, perverted behavior and the other things that demonstrators in so many cities have been showing over the last few years.  And sadly, they have tacitly been supported by the Democratic Party as an example will make clear, exemplified by the example of the Sessions hearing last week. If someone in a position of authority and support for them didn't let them into the Senate chambers last week, how did they miraculously show up there?  To visit the Senate, you have to have a pass; you can't just walk in. And who would likely give them access?  Why the party that gives them support and encouragement, the Democrats, that's who.  The Senate should be officially investigating how this happened for it's not the first time it's been done.

So America will be closely watching on Friday and what they see will have significant influence on their view of things. And one thing is for sure: it won't be the Trump supporters starting trouble.  NO, sir, they just want to celebrate.  And celebrate they will, thanks to the good and patriotic bikers who once again will be here to support the police. God bless America and may she never become a "Banana Republic".  Tomorrow we begin to take her back.
