It was no easy task, the city had huge walls and the Israelites would have to find a way to bring them down in order to successfully invade. God spoke to Joshua and gave him specific instructions which seemed strange. He was to have his Army march around the city once a day for six days with the Ark of the Covenant, a major Jewish religious symbol of God's promise. They were to use no weapons but merely march peacefully around the city. On the seventh day they were to march around the city seven times loudly blowing their horns. Despite doubts and grumbling from some of his followers, Joshua did just as God ordered.
On that seventh day, on the seventh circuit, the vibrations and the sound waves miraculously caused the walls to fall in a heap and the Israelites successfully invaded and killed all of Jericho's residents except Rahab and her family. Rahab was a woman of questionable repute who had aided Israelite spies in checking out the city from within. Despite her past, she believed in God and was protected during the onslaught.
Why do I bring this story up today? Well, I think the way in which Jericho fell reminds me of what we see before our very eyes today with Obamacare. The cornerstone of President Obama's plan to "fundamentally change the United States of America" is collapsing. And with the comments of former President Bill Clinton, the one politician that Democrats admire the most, Obama's deceit and falsehoods about the reality of the program are catching up with him. In case you don't know what I am talking about, Clinton said yesterday that Obama should honor his promise that Americans could keep their health insurance if they wanted it.
With this one simple statement, the Democratic Party is seemingly becoming disjointed over Obamacare and I am sure the Republicans will react quickly to take advantage. Oh, it's not that the Republicans have done anything special; they have waited for someone else to speak up since they are always fearful as a national party of taking a lead on most things. But they can now open up the guns and go after this immoral and counterproductive piece of legislation and hopefully kill it and bury it. Like the Walls of Jericho, I think it will be difficult to resurrect it in any fashion similar to what the Democrats set up in the first place. I hope and pray that they will actually move to completely dismantle it and start anew, for tweaking and modifying it will not correct the problems that it is currently causing and the hopelessness that so many Americans feel.
So is there anyone in the Republican Party who can claim to be Joshua in this situation? Not really, but the closest ones to it are Ted Cruz and Mike Lee. For despite all of the hostility they faced, they did more to bring out the truth about this disaster than all the rest of their party did put together. For that, they deserve thanks.
So go out and blow your horn this morning for hopefully the Walls of Obamacare are crumbling down. Make some noise and pray that America is waking up to truth and reality.
Have a wonderful day with God at the center of your heart.
