Dear Lord, We thank you for your love, your grace and all the wonders that you provide for us everyday. We especially thank you for the gift of life and the opportunity it gives us now for forgiveness if we accept it and the opportunity it provides to gain everlasting life. We know how difficult it was to sacrifice your Son for us and we praise you for it and must live up to it through our faith. We also know your power is infinite, but we also know that you have given us the choice of following you or not and that is precious since it requires us to make the right choice. By giving ourselves to you, we know that it offers us redemption and salvation through your grace, yet if we choose otherwise, we forfeit that for ultimate darkness and sorrow for eternity. Please be with us and guide us with your Spirit to successful navigate the highway to heaven by meeting the challenge of saying no to sin which sometimes seems so wonderful but always leads to downfall at the hands of the Evil One.
Lord, today we live in a world full of strife, anger and hate and we find ourselves surrounded by others who wish us harm, with none being so prevalent today as the purveyors of the virus, Covid-19. Today we are learning that this disease came to us through carelessness, even malice and more and more evidence is surfacing telling us that it is a created occurrence not a natural one and we need to know the truth. We ask your help in successfully finding our way to end the pandemic and to quickly put those who can back to work, for we know you expect us to work for a living in a way that is pleasing to you. We know that we can't do it without you so we also ask that our leaders turn to you as they develop the plans and action steps to recover. At the same time, Lord, many of us are grieving for those who were lost and others remain in fear due to physical conditions which might preclude them from quickly returning to a more active lifestyle. Give us the strength to both grieve, end the lockdown, open the nation and aid those in the aftermath so that all of America as well as the world can fulfill your work in this world in all that they do.
And Lord, I have saved the most difficult wish for last, for you know how hard it is for we mortal sinners to forgive those who have forsaken us as fellow humans. We ask for your direction in grace in helping us forgive those purveyors of evil who have harmed so many in this world and lead us to pray for them and the changing of their ways. We also know that granting forgiveness doesn't mean that there shouldn't be a consequence for them in the actions they carried out, but we do know we must forgive them and, when the consequences are met, accept them back into the brotherhood of human life and try to encourage them to consider you as their way, truth and life as you are for us. Help them to open their heart to you through your love and the example that we set and keep us strong and resolute through it all. And thank you, Lord. Thank you for all of the guidance and love that you display for we who are so unworthy. We are so grateful for your patience and support without which we could never succeed.
In the name of our Lord and Savior we offer this prayer, Amen.
