Dear Heavenly Father: We thank Thee for giving us the good fortune of being Americans and affording us the opportunity to live in the greatest nation on earth. We also thank Thee for the patience that Thou hast shown toward us, for we know we are truly sinners and need Thy help and guidance in everything we do.
We know that Thou art displeased with us and with so much of what has happened in America. A land founded under God and the Laws of the Ten Commandments and the content of the Sermon on the Mount has faltered greatly. Many of Thy laws have been broken and lifestyles that are anathema to Thy teaching have been growing in popularity. Men and women in places of high power and prestige have violated their oaths of office and have put their personal advantage to use for power and riches instead of serving their fellow man. And we citizens have also failed miserably, failing to do our civic duty in ensuring that men and women of liberty and with Thy Spirit are placed into office. We have also lowered our self-respect through the acceptance by so many of government as the source of our needs instead of Thee. We ask that Thou would forgive us for these transgressions and return us to Thy Laws and rules of morality and good living, for only then can we return our nation to the proper path.
And we also ask Thee, Oh Lord, to shine your light into the hearts of those amongst us who reject Thee or don't know about Thee. Help them to see the True Light of your love and radiance and experience the joy that comes with being born into Christ.
And as a means of reaching this goal, make us strong in our beliefs so that we will take Thy message to all who need it. Sustain us in using our faith by acting for Thee in every waking hour of every day. Help us to play a strong role in making this new year a turning point in America, a time from which our land will bask in Thy warmth and turn against sin and all of the trappings that the Fallen Angel tries to sell us. For we know that Satan is crafty and can artfully disguise himself to fool us. Help us to use your wisdom to see through his charade and never falter in our love for Thee.
Bless us and keep us and comfort those in pain, sorrow and need. We ask in the name of The One who died on the Cross so that we might be given the opportunity to live, Amen.
God bless America. May she ever be free as One Nation, Under God.
