Here's the deal. As of right now there has been only a nomination vote in the House, cast during the lame duck session for John Boehner. Tomorrow the full House as constituted for its new session will convene with the first order of business being the election of a Speaker. Since the lame duck, two other Republican House members have offered up their names for Speaker, Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas and Ted Yoho of Florida. Both are conservative and both are in the running because of Boehner's actions in support of the President's agenda during the lame duck. Others could offer their names as well, but the point is that if twenty-nine House Republicans vote for a Republican other than Boehner he is not elected. That's the magic number needed to stop him and throw the contest into a series of votes until a Speaker gets a majority of the voting members.
The Democrats don't have enough members to elect Nancy Pelosi in their caucus and it is certain that Republicans won't vote for her. It's just unfathomable that a Democrat would vote for Boehner. Can you see his standing in his own caucus if the only way he retained his position was with opposition support? It just isn't going to happen. So a small but courageous number of Conservative Republicans can derail the Speaker or at least force him into making concessions on major issues where he has stabbed them in the back. You know, issues like Amnesty, defunding Obamacare, and operating in daylight with transparency as he promised when he first assumed the Speaker's chair in 2010.
And this is where we the voters come in. If you live in a Republican represented district, get on the phone today and call your Congressman's office and tell him or her in no uncertain terms that Boehner must go. If you don't know the number, go to house.gov or even find the number in your local phone book. I guarantee you that Congressional offices are paying attention, they know that 60% of the party is opposed to Boehner and, remember, they will begin receiving bucket loads of anti-Boehner letters today when the wnd.com Dump Boehner Now letter deliveries begin to arrive.
Today is the day, tomorrow is the day that they vote in the morning and it will be too late. Let's melt down the switchboard and make sure every Congressional Republican knows that we want a conservative who supports our interest as the new Speaker of the House. Otherwise, we have no business complaining about anything, for silence is truly complicity.
Let's get on with it and make it happen. #DumpBoehnerNow.
