I can just visualize a bunch of out-of-touch bureaucrats sitting around their office trying to find out all kinds of sordid details about Americans and laughing and joking about it. After all, no matter how good and kind we are, we are all sinners and we all have things in our past that we would rather not have strangers focusing on. I truly think that there are things about each of us that are between us and our Maker, no one else. And this also applies to those who abuse our rights for whatever supposed purpose they continue to unlawfully pursue. I say unlawful because no matter what the Patriot Act says, the actions being taken clearly violate our constitutional rights and therefore are improper.
During all of this awakening in America, no one was more supportive of government spying on Americans than Senator Diane Feinstein, the former Mayor of San Francisco and the wife of Richard Blum, the American businessman who has made a fortune on government contracts. As witnessed by her earlier rants about gun control, even after admitting that she either used to or continues to actually carry, and that she has around the clock security at our expense, she was outraged by the audacity of Americans demanding their right to own guns and carry for their protection. Somehow she is a privileged character, afforded the opportunity to grow her family wealth while supposedly serving the public, yet totally insulated from any of the same problems that we face. That's one of the biggest problems with our elected officials; they have totally lost touch with those they represent and actually serve a different master, usually lobbyists and special interests who fund their campaigns and often eve their lifestyle.
Now it comes out that the NSA was spying on her staff members utilizing computer systems provided by the NSA for research and support of her Senatorial committee actions. She is absolutely outraged and had a complete "hissyfit" over the matter. So why is she concerned about this when she has no concern for the people she is supposed to be working for who are spied on every day?
Could it be that there is incriminating information about Benghazi through emails on the system? Campaign irregularities or abuse of power? Illegal involvement in actions leading to contract awards by the government? Clearly we don't know and it is likely that the truth on this will never come out. And I would hope that there is nothing sinister going on that violates our trust. But the problem is this: when an elected official practices a double standard, when it's "okay for me, but not for thee" as a way of conducting life and business, that in itself is horrendous. It was never intended to be this way when the Founders creating our system of government. But power corrupts and Feinstein is a prime example of why term limits are needed to bring government back down in size. It is supposed to be government for us, not over us.
And as for Senator Feinstein? Just consider her another hypocrite who thinks she is above it all. No, Diane, you aren't. You are a mere mortal just like the rest of us and some day, maybe not in this world but somewhere else you will be made to realize it. While thankfully I am not one of your constituents, the people who elected you deserve better.
