Today, however, the wind is fetching from the northeast and with it comes the chilly and damp air off of the Atlantic which has made its way inland. It has just been a very dreary day and the barn chores and other outdoor small farm tasks either have to be put off or done without the uplifting spirit that a bright, sunny day brings. It's just not real pleasant working out in the muck and mire when you're used to sunshine, although we know that the rain is necessary to replenish all things living.
I decided since it was mostly an indoor day that I would work on the most dreaded of dreaded projects: taxes. I have to get my financial documents in order for the accountant but, as usual, I have procrastinated and so today I could make no further excuse for avoiding them.
Taxes coupled with a dreary day can easily make one think of "gloom and doom". Any way you put it, it is not fun unless you are a CPA who sees tax season as bread and butter time. So I got the work done, sat and contemplated with a cup of coffee and then realized that tomorrow is Sunday.
Blessed Sunday, the day when I can forget all of the routine issues of my life and the world and have my soul uplifted by group worship of my Lord and Savior. Rain, cold, no matter what, with Him there is warmth and sunshine. And I am further reminded that He is always here with us, we just have to give a little tug on that door to our heart and the Holy Spirit puts us in direct connection with Him.
So now I am no longer dreary and the wondrous thoughts of Him and what He has d0ne for me and mine bring a big smile to my face and I see sunshine wherever I go, no matter what the outdoor elements or my cares and troubles might present. He is a comfort and a refuge and He is the one who has saved my life. And it's all because of His love and grace.
Thank you, Lord, and keep me safe and secure in Thy presence always, Amen.
Have a wonderful Lord's Day everyone and whatever you do and wherever you go, take time to spend with Him on His Day. You will be richly rewarded and feel much better about whatever might trouble you, guaranteed. God bless you all.
